|THE BORJOMI-KHARAGAULI NATIONAL PARK|
The Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is located in Central Georgia. It is the first National Park in the Caucasus. Park area covers more than 85 047 hectares which amounts more than 1 % of the territory of Georgia. It is one of the largest parks in Europe.
The large area of the mountainous forest has been preserved here in its pristine and virgin state. A number of endemic and relict species of flora and endangered species of fauna can be found in the forests as well as among sprawling sub alpine and alpine meadows of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
Nowadays 11 tourist routes are officially functioning in the national park. Along the trails you can find tourist shelters. There are picnic places and campsites at the park entrances. The trails allow visitors trips ranging from one day up to one week, at altitudes between 800 m and 2.642 m above sea level. Most of the trails are open to visitors from April until the end of October. The offer allows visitors to choose trails according to their personal liking, professional and physical abilities.

Borjomi is the first resort in Georgia functioning since 1842. Nowadays it has an increasing number of tourists, both - domestic and foreigners. Borjomi’s tourist infrastructure and offers are developing rapidly. One of the greatest tourist attractions is Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park that is a member of PAN-Parks.
Location and Territory: Borjomi municipaity is located in south-east Georgia, Samtskhe-Javakheti region. It covers 1198 sq. km. on the slopes of the Lesser Caucasus, at 800 - 1000 m. above sea level. The main river is the Mtkvari. The relief is mountainous, woods cover up to 60 per cent of territory.
Municipality includes ten resorts, among which are - balneoclimatic spa of Borjomi, winter-ski resort Bakuriani and some balneological and climatic resorts: Tsemi, Patara Tsemi, Tsagveri, Libani, Tba, Akhaldaba, Tsikhisjvari, Chitakhevi.
Resort areas: Daba, Dviri, Mzetamze, Sakochavi, TimoTesubani, Chobiskhevi.
Population: in Borjomi - 14.440, in the whole municipality – 32 340.
Natural resources: the main asset of the municipality is curative mineral waters and thermal sulfur springs – that are well used for touristic-balneological reasons, coniferous forests, mountainous rivers, beautiful lakes, nature sanctuaries and a national park.
Infrastructure:/ Borjomi and its settlements have quite developed tourist infrastructure of hotels, guesthouses and family hotels, café & restaurants, spa-centers, entertainment parks and a museum.
