We are entering occupied territories, or the security zone, as the Armenians call them. Theoretically (according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nagorno-Karabakh), foreigners are not allowed to enter these territories, but nobody controlled us. We passed the checkpoint without even stopping.
We are careful to stick to the main road. People have warned us that mines are still being removed from many places.
The road is quite shabby, but the Lada can go everywhere. All we need is to stop once in a while to check if everything is ok.
Destroyed Azeri villages. Nature is slowly taking back the area, covering ruins of houses and farm buildings. No trace has remained of the destroyed cemeteries.
There is a small gold mine on the border of occupied territories and Armenia. The mountains around have suffered a bit.
